not able to bear her past, she didn't want to be confronted by it anymore, and begged ling wen to help her erase it. it took a few years and a lot of work, but eventually, the story of he ningrui was changed:chai ningrui was a young man, kind and caring, a loving older brother. with no mother, he took on the duty on caring for his siblings from a young age, cultivated with them in a small sect on the landside. at age 19, he ascended, though, his siblings had found love and happiness in the mortal realm, and so he left them to live their lives.
upon hearing all his siblings had such prosperous and happy lives, especially his sisters, he was soon worshipped as a god who'd protect daughters on their way to marriage, who could grant lots of healthy, happy children, and additionally, an early spring after a harsh winter.chai ningrui is a very soft-spoken person, only fighting when he absolutely has to, or to defend someone in need. he isn't exactly happy to be a heavenly official, though, to make sure nobody would ever suffer as much as he did, he'd do his best every day. while he gets along quite easily with people, he doesn't call other people his friends, knowing he's deceiving all of them by just existing. he is not a very popular person in the heavenly realm, and many people question why he sometimes helps ling wen in her palace when it isn't his duty. his usual answer would be "i'm simply bored."

they only show their true form when sleeping or appearing in young women's dreams after they or their parents had prayed for a happy marriage. disgusted by their own self, they never managed to deal with their trauma.
since they changed their name and appearance, and only ling wen and jun wu remember their true identity, he xuan cannot recognize them as his sister, just as well as they wouldn't be able to recognize him in his disguise.
